Every now and then, the most interesting storylines can serve as tiebreakers. In Wednesday’s case, they separate the NHL three stars of the night from the honorable mentions. (At least no one’s losing bonus money from this, eh?)
"Right now, I'm 100%," the Capitals' all-time leading scorer said. "I didn't feel any soreness. I feel comfortable. That's the most important thing. This time of year, you have to be smart and you have to think about the future, not only regular season." Colorado Avalanche

"This is the first of a long career," Allison said of York. "This guy's going to play a lot of games because as you can tell from tonight, he's a really special player."
Three fights broke out at center ice as soon as the puck was dropped. Before the game was a minute old, Rangers defenseman Brendan Smith got into it with Wilson. And, yes, two more fights erupted just past the four-minute mark. Philadelphia Flyers
Playing in just his 12th career NHL game, Allison tallied two goals to break this game open and give Philadelphia a 3-1 lead in the second period. St. Louis Blues
The Wings were behind 2-0 when Veleno scored at 13:50 of the second period. Gavin Bayreuther scored for the Blue Jackets less than two minutes in when his shot hit Michael Rasmussen and bounced past goalie Thomas Greiss, and Nathan Gerbe stuffed a backhand in on a breakaway at 7:48 of the second period. Buffalo Sabres
The Senators are another team who did not make the playoffs but have a very good up and coming team...Brady Tkachuk is their star at forward with players like Tim Stutzle and Josh Norris just behind...Norris should get some Calder consideration, certainly more than Stutzle who will likely have a better NHL career...Drake Batherson and Colin White are also up and comers...On the blueline, Thomas Chabot is their star but look out for Erik Brannstrom, Artem Zub and rookie Jacob Bernard-Docker as the Senators have so much young talent and we haven’t even mentioned the fifth-overall pick in the 2020 Draft, defenseman Jake Sanderson...The Senators hope that Matt Murray can rebound from a tough start this season and be a solid NHL goaltender...The good news is that he has already won two Stanley Cups, leading the Penguins a few seasons ago.
